espnW ran an extensive article last week detailing the lives of couples living overseas for professional basketball. So many Sisters who have lived in other countries for their significant other’s career can relate completely. For others of us, we can appreciate what they go through and the sacrifices they make!
All Sisters can agree with this quote from the article, “There’s a common misconception that every spouse of an overseas American professional basketball player would like to dispel: that the lifestyle is glamorous. The espnW article shares the lives of eight Sisters: Courtney Douglass, Sheena Robinson, Shakaola Dean, Jenny Mbakwe, Baylee Carroll, Meredith Doellman, Amanda Woodside and Eryn Panko. They discuss the pros and cons of the overseas lifestyle. Pros can include amazing experiences and higher pay (although unreliable), while the cons revolve more around the everyday life – language barriers, lack of job security, difficulty finding schooling for children, establishing work visas, and general feelings of seclusion.
