Summer is a busy time in the Moyer household. Routine is not rigid like during the school year, but there is not a lot of time for sitting around either. Each of the 6 kids at home this summer has their own activities and goals for the summer.
My youngest 4 kids are keeping busy with sports and outdoor activities this summer, and also with working toward goals for the Fall. My youngest, Yeni, is preparing for 1st grade and establishing a structure that works for her with her therapist. Kati, the next oldest, is active in swimming and surfing. She is preparing for swim team while also attending tennis & golf camp. Grady, my #6 child, is turning 10 years old and excelling in her young gymnastics career. She is also in tennis & golf camp and improving her swimming skills as she prepares to be a Junior Lifeguard here in San Diego. McCabe is turning 11 this summer and is my golf star! He plays golf every day, many days with his Mom, and just made the Junior World Golf Championships. So proud!
My oldest 4 are scattered across the globe this summer. My daughter, Timoney, is home from St. Mary’s College at Notre Dame, which is fun and also provides for interesting times. She is helpful with the younger ones. Duffy, my high school child, is playing soccer for 2 weeks in Spain this summer with her Club team. My #2 son, who plays baseball for Pepperdine, is busy playing this summer while my oldest, Dillon, is playing in the Dodgers organization. He was just called up and is now playing in Rancho Cucamonga, which means we get to see him play more often!
My husband, Jamie, is busy across the country in his new role as a color analyst for the Phillies – a job he is loving. We see him when he has breaks, once every 4-6 weeks. It’s tough but something we have all grown accustomed to in this sports life we live. You make the best of it!
I am keeping busy with the Moyer Foundation and SiS. As many of you know, I just completed work on a documentary about The Moyer Foundation’s bereavement camp for children, “Camp Erin”. The documentary, called “One Last Hug”, aired on HBO and was just nominated for an Emmy! I am now working on two additional documentaries, one on Camp Mariposa, for children affected by addiction in their family, and the other on Suicide Prevention (I am on the board for the National Alliance for Suicide Prevention). I am keeping up with my kids by staying in shape. Boxing is one of my favorite workouts these days! I am also taking on the game of golf. I am playing almost every day and in a few tournaments over the summer. This month I get the honor of playing in the American Century Celebrity tournament in Tahoe!
I hope that everyone is having a wonderful summer and enjoying the SiS site when you visit! We are working hard to make sure the site can add more and more value to your life as a spouse in sports!
