One of the best investments that a homeowner can make is to remodel their kitchen. Whether it’s to get the home ready to put it on the market, or if you simply want to enjoy a new kitchen, you cannot go wrong making this investment. The return on a kitchen remodel is almost 100%!
My business partner Marie and I have worked with many clients on kitchen remodels. One of the most common questions asked by our clients is “what color should the appliances be?”. We always recommend stainless steel. It is a color that compliments any finish you decide to stain your cabinets.
If you are looking for something a little more unique, however, one of our signature designs for kitchens is to mix furniture color stains and make the cabinets and appliances look like beautiful pieces of furniture. A kitchen does not have to be boring! For example, my partner and I like to mix medium walnut colors with French blue and black stains. In my kitchen (above), my refrigerator looks like an antiqued hand carved armoire that I purchased from Europe. It makes a statement in the room and it gives my kitchen a different dimension.
A couple more tips…
It is a “must” to hire a kitchen designer. Remember that a kitchen is the sanctuary of a home so if you are thinking of remodeling you must find the right person for the job. They must stay on budget and finish on a timely manner. The designer must understand what your needs are and they should make this remodel easy. Communication is the key to a successfully designed kitchen.
When selecting the appliances, the stains, handles, faucets and sink, stone tops or tiles should be selected at the same time so they do not run into a situation of not having what is necessary to complete the kitchen on time.
