Part of my bucket list for the last 6 years has been to take my kids on a mission trip when they turn 16. I have taken the first four kids to different places like Guatemala, Africa, and Honduras. This summer of 2013 is Jamie’s first summer out of pro so we booked a mission/service trip to Kenya with 4 of our kids.

While it’s one of my most favorite things to do in the world…I didn’t know how Jamie would like it. The day we were leaving Jamie left a card at my bathroom sink. It said in his writing…”Thank you for sharing your love with me and our family. I am really looking forward to this trip with you and the kids. Another new endeavor for me, so thank you for sharing and all the preparation you have done. Love you sweetheart, Jamie“.

My husband set the tone for our trip with this card. And truly, 24/7 each and every day, even when we were stranded in Kenya because of the airport fire, Jamie was awesome. He took it all in, participated fully and made me smile for the example we showed our kids. I know he knows how important and fulfilling this stuff is for me, and like I did for him in his career and living his dream, I can conclude that mutual support of each other’s passions makes your love even deeper!!
