The PitCCh In Foundation was founded in 2009 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2010 by Amber and CC Sabathia, ace pitcher for the New York Yankees. The mission of the PitCCh In Foundation is to enrich the lives of inner city youth with the goal of helping young people raise their self-esteem through educational and athletic activities. The Foundation showcases three Signature Programs in Northern California and the New York Tri-State area—All Star Baseball Clinic, Youth Back to School Backpack Program, and CC’s Christmas Caravan. Additionally, the PitCCh In Foundation incorporates special initiatives that include the renovation of youth and high school baseball fields, transformation of the Omega Boys & Girls Club, and establishment of a scholarship fund for the JCC Therapeutic Nursery, just to name a few.
Each undertaking of the Foundation is done with careful consideration and “hands-on” involvement. Amber Sabathia, the Foundation Executive Director, works with a dedicated team of professional staff and volunteers that includes CC’s mom, Margie Sabathia-Lanier, to ensure that the end result of each project is fulfilling the promise of the mission.
Four years strong, the PitCCh In Foundation is proud to highlight our most recent milestones:
- Over 1,000 kids participated in our All Star Baseball Clinics on the east and west coasts to learn baseball techniques and sportsmanship.
- Over 10,250 backpacks have been filled with school supplies distributed to children in Vallejo, CA and the Bronx, essentially saving families over $1,152,920 for supplies and backpacks.
- Over $269,000 invested in athletic and community center renovations to ensure kids have a safe place to be active.

“CC and I can relate to these kids because we had similar challenges growing up of being raised in single parent households and having to navigate situations that could have negatively changed our lives. It is those youth who are ready to give up that we want to inspire. CC and I are committed to expanding the Foundation in order to serve as role models and help a new generation of young people be their best.”
