Abi has a very close relationship with spouses in sports. In fact, in 2011, Abi Ferrin was chosen by Off the Field as their featured designer during the Super Bowl’s week of festivities. Fashion and football united as Ferrin’s gorgeous designs, worn by the players’ wives, flowed down the runway. Visit www.abiferrin.com more information, other designs and a tutorial on how to wear the different looks.
Fashion designer Abi Ferrin became a designer the moment she unintentionally blurted out, “I’m a designer.” At an “industry” party at the ever-trendy Kitson Boutique in Hollywood, Abi changed her destiny. Abi donned one of her very first designs and Extra’s host, Dayna Devon, noticed. The small screen darling made a beeline for Abi and exclaimed, “Where did you get that top? I love it!” Abi smiled and without thinking, announced, “I made it. I’m a designer.” And there it was. Dayna Devon said she had to have it. In no time, Abi quit her sales job at a major studio and became a designer. Shortly after, her clothes were featured on Extra, splashed all over weekly magazines, and celebs like Molly Sims and Rosalyn Sanchez, were calling Abi with personal requests.
Deep in the heart of Texas, Abi was able to focus more on being innovative rather than just “in”. In 2007, Abi was named Texas’ Next Top Designer by Stanley Korshak and the Dallas Fashion Incubator. Abi’s prize package included a loft with storefront space at the historic Southside on Lamar building for one year and a business grant to expand her growing company.
Fashion with Freedom and Purpose, is the driving force behind Abi’s brand. Abi Ferrin empowers and employs women rescued from the sex trade in Nepal, Costa Rica, and Cambodia by incorporating their hand-made buttons into her designs and handbags. AbiFerrin purchases the buttons at fair market value, then donates an additional percentage of the asking price back to the organization.
Abi Ferrin is redefining the meaning of “fashion designer.” Her “Fashion with Freedom and Purpose” slogan resonates not only with her clients, but also with the women she helps.
