So a few years ago I decided to start a social networking site whose purpose is to offer useful resources and assistance for friends, who by our unique circumstances, have become each other’s extended family. The goal is to evolve as the “go to” site for our community, which is a sisterhood that is invincibly bound together by the many joys and challenges that are the fabric of our lives, as spouses in sports. This is a very public world of ours, and I, like all of you, need a place to come from time to time, for a shoulder to lean on – or an understanding ear to listen. I wanted to share our unique experiences and insights. Answers to questions that arise in all of our fast paced, mobile lives, like, “Where to live?”, “I need a pediatrician.”, “What’s the best stroller for airport mobility?”, “Where can we vacation in the offseason?”, “Does anyone know of a trusted photographer? Nanny? Housekeeper?, etc.”
In the past 18 months, I have launched this site knowing it would be a work in progress, that could only grow with the input and support of our community. And for the past few months so many of you have lent your input – and some great ideas – and I am now shaping your great suggestions into “our” site, in hopes of developing the unique network that meets our many needs. We are welcoming spouses who are experts in many areas that will make life easier and reliable. A network for you to share your interests, 24/7, no matter the subject.
Spouses in Sports (SiS) has been a huge investment of time, energy, love and support, for all of you and for the legacy of other women. We are a SiSterhood and this site is a safe zone for us all. For me personally, I am the daughter of a famous college basketball coach, the wife of the oldest MLB pitcher to win a game, and the mother of 8 children, (including those who play collegiate sports). I couldn’t do it all without the sisterhood I have been blessed with and the experience of the “veterans” I could rely on. The site is “our” site, where we can go – and where we can be here for each other – (without the clutter of unwanted emails and phone calls). So no matter where you are in life, at home or on the road, we’re here for you! And as a group, we’ll be there to give back to those in need!
Together we’re about to do amazing things – Thanks for being here.
